||Conclusions of this criteria document, translation of a report finalized in November 1986: the main effects of acute exposure to dichloromethane in humans are central nervous system depression and an increase in the carboxyhaemoglobin level in the blood; these affects are reversible. Chronic exposure also causes central nervous system depression. Carcinogenic effects have been observed in experimental animals, but there is no indication of carcinogenicity in humans.
