Abstract This detailed discussion of medical surveillance techniques addresses such issues as the administration and interpretation of the tuberculin skin test, the importance of bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, preventive therapy with isoniazid, the identification of groups at high risk for TB, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, and regulatory requirements for purified protein derivative (PPD) testing, including Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
