| Abstract |
This manual presents a methodology for evaluating the risk, returns and costs associated with various investment options for improving environmental performance. Investments are considered in the areas of research and development, product and process design, product marketability, and corporate image. The basic model and methodology are described along with existing models and approaches to investment analysis. Two case studies illustrate the use of the technique: a pilot plant for non-chlorine bleaching of pulp and an environmental improvement project on a chemical site in the United Kingdom. |
