||A number of cases of acute occupational intoxication have been reported following exposure to trichloroethene (trichloroethylene); effects include unconsciousness, respiratory symptoms and neurotoxic, hepatic and cardiac effects. Other studies report cases of cardiac arrhythmia and liver and kidney damage. Impaired psychophysiological performance has been observed during human exposure experiments, and skin tests indicate an erythema-forming effect. Carcinogenic effects have been observed in experimental animals.
