Abstract Early studies describe the following symptoms after workplace exposures to diphenylguanidine (DPG): eye and mucous membrane irritation, gastric and bilious complaints and disturbed liver metabolism. For persons with contact dermatitis, patch tests are occasionally positive, indicating a possible sensitizing effect.
