Title Hypersensitivity pneumonitis presenting as sarcoidosis
Bibliographic information June 1993, Vol.50, No.6, p.497-500. Illus. 15 ref.
Abstract A case report is presented to illustrate a misdiagnosis of sarcoidosis in a spraypainter whose history was suggestive of hypersensitivity pneumonitis caused by exposure to toluene diisocyanate in the workplace. The two diseases have similar clinical, laboratory and pathological features and are thus difficult to distinguish. Since early recognition of hypersensitivity pneumonitis can lead to complete reversal of the disease in many cases, it is important to make the diagnosis as early as possible.
