Abstract This book describes the work experiences of an OSHA health inspector in California, USA. An introductory chapter describing how an OSHA inspection is conducted and the types of hazards which may be encountered is followed by accounts of inspections involving hazards associated with asbestos, solvents, noise, lead, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde. Ten of the narratives resulted in citations for one or more serious violations of OSHA regulations. A concluding chapter discusses the impact and effectiveness of OSHA enforcement policies.
