Abstract This report is one of a series concerning blast resistance of offshore structures. Simplified methods of analysis for determining structural response due to blast loading are reviewed. The assessment focuses on two approaches both of which are suitable, subject to their limitations, for predicting responses of relatively simple structural components. Structural codes used by the offshore industry were also reviewed to determine those most suitable for blast design. Responses to a questionnaire received as part of an industry-wide survey are reproduced.
