Abstract The results are presented of a study on measures for reducing emission of hazardous substances in the metal products industry (in a previous study the processes and activities resulting in the highest exposure risks had been identified). For each production process possibilities for health and safety measures are presented. The processes are: soldering and brazing; cutting; surface treatment; machining. Furthermore, a list of general health and safety measures applicable to all production processes is given.
