Abstract A paper presented at the First International Conference on Electrical, Optical and Acoustic Properties of Polymers, held in Canterbury, United Kingdom, 5-7 September 1988. The need for electrically charged filters is outlined and their mechanism of action is briefly described. The stability of the charge is discussed and unsolved problems concerning the behaviour of electrically charged filters are listed.
