| Abstract |
On behalf of the Austrian Federal Minister for Public Economy and Transport, the Bundesprüfanstalt für Kraftfahrzeuge (Federal Control Establishment for Motor Vehicles) has developed a test trailer for testing the safety of transport of hazardous materials. It was commissioned on 29 June 1987. The controls usually take place on the grounds of the customs offices of heavily used border-crossing points and consist of a strict technical examination of the truck's condition. X-ray fluorescent analysis, GC-MS and varius chemical tests are available for the control of dangerous loads. By means of energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescent analysis, samples can be analysed without any preparation. The advantage of this method is that it combines mobility and conventional laboratory techniques. |
