Title A review of adverse effects on reproduction amongst female computer terminal workers
Bibliographic information Sep. 1990, Vol.19, No.5, p.649-655. Illus. 52 ref.
Abstract Some recent studies on the possible reproductive effects of VDUs are reviewed with emphasis on spontaneous abortion and birth defects. Factors affecting pregnancy outcomes in general are explained along with the need to compensate for such factors in comparative studies. Clusters of reproductive failures among VDU operators within several organisations are described along with epidemiological investigations. Suggested reproductive factors in VDU work are outlined. According to current scientific knowledge, the use of computer terminals during pregnancy does not by itself lead to increased risks of adverse reproductive effects.
