Title Proposal for a system to assess hearing impairment due to impulse noise
Original title Gehörschäden durch Impulsgeräusche - Vorschlag für ein gehörschadensrichtiges Impulsbewertungssystem [in German]

Abstract A method is described for measuring impulse noise, taking into account the relationship between peak levels, the duration of exposure and the morphological damage of the stereocilia of sensory cells observed in animal experiments. With a newly developed personal computer-controlled signal processor system, the level and extent of exposure to various frequencies and the dynamics of sound are determined. The value obtained is added to the equivalent continuous noise level LEq. Summaries in English and French.
