Abstract Part 1 of this booklet presents a brief guide to the requirements for controlling noise at work under the Noise at Work Regulations (CIS 90-21) and outlines hazards of exposure to high noise levels; duties of employers to assess noise exposure, reduce noise levels, and provide information and hearing protectors to employees; duties of workers and machine makers. Part 2 presents specific information relating to the ceramics industry and suggests possible solutions for noise reduction and hearing protection for various processes.
