Title Electromagnetic field exposure and male breast cancer
Bibliographic information 23 Mar. 1991, Vol.337, No.8743, p.737. 7 ref.
Abstract Recent reports have identified an association between male breast cancer and potential exposure to very low frequency electric or magnetic fields. In this study, 2 cases of male breast cancer were identified in telephone workers employed in the central office switching environment, which produced a different pattern of EMF exposure from that for other workers. It is suggested that the excesses of male breast cancer which have been observed in workers potentially exposed to EMF may fit theories that EMF exposures can change melatonin diurnal rhythms and thus lead to changes in the incidence of specific cancers.
