Title Decompression sickness: Risk factors and the monoplace chamber - A case report
Bibliographic information May 1991, Vol.62, No.5, p.414-417. 19 ref.
Abstract This case report of serious decompression sickness (DCS) with pulmonary and neurological manifestations illustrates the principles and concerns related to the use of monoplace chambers for the treatment of DCS. Closely timed recurrent altitude exposure is discussed as a risk factor for DCS, and a newly defined risk factor associated with the menstrual phase is considered relevant to this case. It is recommended that arrangements be made early in the management of DCS cases for transfer to a chamber which can provide definitive therapy.
