Title OSHA policy changes needed to confirm that employers abate serious hazards
Bibliographic information United States General Accounting Office, Washington, D.C. 20548, USA, May 1991. 16p.
Abstract This report discusses the results of a review of OSHA's activities in confirming the abatement of occupational hazards. OSHA's policies and procedures in this area were found to be inadequate in two respects. It is recommended that OSHA promulgate a regulation requiring employers to submit detailed evidence of what corrective actions have been taken to abate hazards, and that it revise its policies so that employers at construction worksites are required to correct the condition, equipment or procedure creating the hazard rather than just eliminate the hazard at the inspected site.
