Abstract This report provides information on the noise exposure levels of farm workers in the United Kingdom over the period 1985-1987. Results are presented for 492 sets of records, the majority of which cover a large percentage of the working shift for typical farm tasks. Examples are given of working levels and daily exposure levels for 75 types of activity. The report briefly compares noise exposure measured by spot readings as against recording dosimetry and discusses microphone position effects, repeatability and week-long results. Estimates are also made of the number of worker days spent at a range of noise exposure levels from 72 to 107Lep (dB(A) 8h).
