Abstract This annotated checklist relates to substances which may have the potential of a hazard in terms of a major accident, pollution, or worker health and safety. Chapter 1 comprises a brief review of the stages in the assessment of risk. Chapter 2 presents the checklist indicating the information that may be needed to identify, assess and control the hazards. Topics covered: fixed facilities including storage, transportation of hazardous substances, vulnerable areas and populations at risk, emergency response and planning.
