Title Genotoxic effects and prevention possibilities of chemical exposure at the workplace
Original title A munkahelyi vegyi expozició genotoxikus hatása és prevenciójának lehetőségei [in Hungarian]
Bibliographic information 1990, No.71, p.154-158. 27 ref.
Abstract Literature survey of in vitro and in vivo methods used for the evaluation of cancer risk and genotoxic hazard due to chemical agents at the workplace. The article provides the list of proven and probable carcinogens (categories 1 and 2A), established by IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) and it provides as well a list of industries with an increased cancer risk. On the basis of international experience it is recommended that cytogenetic monitoring be applied at workplaces with cancer risk. Though these methods cannot yet be fully applied for diagnosis, together with clinical, laborarory and x-ray diagnostic tests they can be useful in workplace cancer prevention.
