Abstract Contents of this guidance note: objectives and extent of remedial timber treatment; types of wood preservatives and their uses; training of professional users; responsibilities of employers, employees and the self-employed; site survey and selection of treatment; preventive measures (correct storage and transport, precautions for other persons affected by the work, safe place of work and safe means of access, work in confined spaces, contamination of water supply, dust control, fumes and skin contact, explosion and fire, electrocution, procedures after treatment). Appendices provide a list of relevant legislation and an outline of first-aid treatment for contaminated persons.
