Abstract This report on corporate management focuses on the responsibility of private firms in the EEC and the USA to communicate hazard and risk information to government officials and persons at risk. It covers: an overview and analysis of the industrial risk management function and its goals; a review of the emergence of risk communication policies in the EEC and the USA which apply to private firms dealing with hazardous substances; legal requirements for the use of risk communication to protect worker health in the EEC and the USA; an evaluation of the influence of such requirements on industrial risk management programs; conclusions.
