Abstract This Code amplifies certain aspects of the general Approved Codes of Practice under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations and the Control of Lead at Work Regulations. Topics covered include: assessment of nature and extent of health risks; procedures requiring control measures to reduce exposure to silica, lead and other substances; prevention of contamination and disposal of waste; provision and use of protective clothing and respiratory protective equipment; cleaning of workrooms, plant and equipment; construction of buildings and equipment; use and maintenance of control measures; exposure monitoring and health surveillance.
