Title Toxicological profile for arsenic
Bibliographic information Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta, GA 30333, USA, Mar. 1989. 125p. Illus. Bibl.
Abstract Acute oral exposure to inorganic arsenic causes irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, while long-term exposure may lead to more serious disorders including anemia, peripheral neuropathy, cardiotoxicity, and increased risk of skin cancer. Dermal contact with inorganic arsenic may produce skin irritation, while inhalation exposure increases the risk of lung cancer. In general, organic derivatives of arsenic are less toxic than inorganic forms. International and US guidelines and regulations are quoted. Glossary of terms used.
