Abstract This report concludes that with good work practices and safety precautions, tetramethrin is unlikely to present a hazard to those occupationally exposed. Although tetramethrin has been used for many years, there have been no reports of poisoning or adverse effects in human beings. Dermatological tests showed that tetramethrin is neither a primary irritant nor a human skin sensitiser. Details are given of the environmental behaviour of tetramethrin and its effects on environmental organisms, experimental animals and humans.
