Abstract This 3-volume report was sponsored by the World Bank, WHO and UNEP. Topics covered include classification of hazardous wastes, health and environmental effects, planning and infrastructure of hazardous waste management systems, treatment and disposal technologies, waste minimisation. The main emphasis is on management aspects and on technologies appropriate for implementing a region-wide hazardous waste management programme. Case studies from developing countries are included together with examples of various operating systems for hazardous waste tracking and disposal, waste survey questionnaires and techniques, and landfill design and management practices.
