Abstract Starting off with some statistical data on electrical accidents, legal provisions and technological measures for the prevention of accidents are described. Human and environmental factors in electrical accident causation are discussed. Training and fitness tests are included. Physiological reactions and pathological consequences of electrical shock are discussed in detail as well as first-aid treatment by laymen and physicians. A chapter on the assessment of electrical accidents is added. Useful to engineers, safety personnel and physicians.
