Abstract Report describing measurements and analyses of noise, vibration and driver alertness during the operation of 2 different types of lorries. On the road, some lorries generated high and others low levels of low-frequency noise. No major differences were found between the 2 types with respect to dB(A) levels and levels of vibration. Drivers became more readily fatigued when driving lorries that generated a high level of low-frequency noise. The correlation between exposure to low-frequency noise and the risk of reduced alertness is discussed.
