Abstract |
This booklet contains 2 documents. The Code of Practice has been approved under Section 16 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 for the purpose of giving practical guidance to the provision of basic training for all employees who have no experience in the operation of lift trucks. Scope: industrial counterbalanced lift trucks; industrial reach trucks; rough terrain counterbalanced lift trucks; telescopic materials handlers. Content: introduction; obligation to provide basic training; instructors; training area and facilities; training structure and content; testing; records. The Guidance supplements the Approved Code and gives practical advice on the training necessary for the safe operation of lift trucks. Content: selection of operators for training; training of operators; authorisation, records and certificates; further operator training; instructor selection and training; recognition of accrediting bodies. Five appendices contain additional details on the topic. |
