Abstract The concentration of five chemicals was measured during the spraying of pesticides in 17 greenhuses. Urine samples were taken and the pseudocholinesterase activity was measured. Both sprayers and harvesters showed typical symptoms of cholinergic effects caused by organophosphates. Interviews showed inadequacies in the training of workers and in their handling of pesticides. Recommendations to decrease exposure are given.
