Title Health hazards posed by microwaves

Abstract In the Federal Republic of Germany the limit value for radiation leaking from microwave ovens is 5mW/cm2 at a distance of 5cm. It is considered too high by a factor of 7 to prevent local hot spots in human tissue. The eye-ball and cartilage are particularly vulnerable. Frequent headaches, insomnia and an elevated leukaemia incidence among radar operators are some of the other possible hazards mentioned.
