Abstract The Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations (TDG regulations) apply to the handling, offering for transport and transporting of dangerous goods within Canada. International consignments of dangerous goods coming into or exiting Canada by ship will have to comply with certain requirements under the TDG regulations for the domestic, surface portion of the journey and with international requirements for the remainder of their journey. The accompanying information document on the responsibilities for exporters and importers provides a general outline of requirements under the TDG regulations whether the consignment of dangerous goods is international or transborder. This leaflet outlines the interface between the domestic and international portion of a journey of a consignment of dangerous goods by sea.
