Abstract This book is intended to prevent releases of hazardous or toxic materials and to minimise the effects of such releases when they do occur. Discussed are: overview of release scenarios and modelling procedures; input data required for modelling (source, meteorological and receptor data, site information); source emission models (physical and chemical principles, review of procedures used by specific models for predicting source emission rates); transport and dispersion models (physical principles, procedures used by specific models for transport and dispersion); model evaluation experience and uncertainty estimates (summary of data sets, examples of model evaluations, uncertainties); research needs. Modeller's responses to questionnaires and examples of hazardous chemical release scenarios are included.
