Abstract An epidemiologic study on the exposure to tetanus and the vaccination coverage of the different professional categories in a bullfighting arena in Madrid, Spain, in 1984. Only 14.9% of these professionals had a complete antitetanic vaccination, while 52.5% of them had suffered occupational injuries. 48% had received antitetanic gamma globulin (predominantly in the most exposed groups). Despite this insufficient protection against tetanus, no case of this infectious disease was recorded.
