Abstract This international standard is applicable to equipment intended to detect ionizing radiation from, and provide warning of, a criticality accident in a nuclear power plant. It is intended to limit the probability of serious radiation exposure to personnel by providing immediate detection and alarm initiation. This standard prescribes general requirements and provides acceptable criteria for warning equipment for critical accidents. It specifies, for the equipment described, general characteristics, operating characteristics, electrical, mechanical and environmental characteristics, test procedures and documentation.
