Title No evidence for increased risk of Lassa fever infection in hospital staff
Bibliographic information 22 Nov. 1986, Vol.2, No.8517, p.1202-1204. Illus. 20 ref.
Abstract A prospective serological study of staff from 3 Sierra Leone hospitals in an area where Lassa fever is endemic, revealed that there was no increased risk of contracting the disease among any groups of hospital personnel. These findings support the proposal that patients with Lassa fever need not be confined to isolators in order to prevent infecting the staff.
