Bibliographic information Jan. 1986, Vol.47, No.1, p.1-13. Illus. 58 ref.
Abstract In this lecture, given at the 1985 ACGIH meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, the various aspects of risk assessment methodology are reviewed and evaluated in the case of diesel engine exhaust fumes. Aspects covered: hazard identification; role of epidemiological, in vitro and animal studies; exposure-dose response assessments; exposure assessment; risk characterisation. The total number of lung cancers expected per year in the USA, from exposure to diesel exhaust are estimated at about 200.
