Title Health risks to female workers in occupational exposure to chemical agents

Abstract This literature review examines the available evidence of extra health risks to female workers who are occupationally exposed to chemical agents. The risks during pregnancy and lactation to either the mother or the offspring, as well as nearly all epidemiological studies and some relevant animal studies, are critically reviewed. Areas in which information is lacking are identified. Chapters cover: organic solvents, carbon disulfide, pesticides, polychlorinated and polybrominated biphenyls, plastic monomers, carbon monoxide, metals in general, lead, cadmium, mercury, operating-room personnel, health-care personnel, the pharmaceutical industry, the chemical industry and laboratories, the rubber industry, hairdressers, conclusions.
