This guidance note deals with the health and safety issues associated with the special processes involved in welded steel tube manufacture, covering: storage, handling and loading of coils; decoiling; guards at the welding unit; safeguarding the free-loop accumulator; fixed guards at the guidance rolls and cleaning of the coils; guarding of the flying punch/saw. Statistics are provided for the location of accidents in welded steel tube mills in the United Kingdom, 1974-1981. |
