Title First aid in chemical environments
Bibliographic information Apr. 1983, Vol.19, No.4, p.318-323. Illus.
Abstract Information is provided on the identification of major hazards in chemical environments and on simple general methods for making them safe, in order to allow normal first aid techniques to be applied. Hazards associated with radiochemical and biochemical areas, electric shock, fires and hot equipment, sharp objects, explosions, toxic atmospheres and chemical contamination are specifically discussed. Chemists should ensure that all first aiders are aware of local chemical hazards and that a procedure is available to enable non-technical personnel to render first aid to victims when expert advice is not available.
