Title Urinary arsenic, chromium, and copper levels in workers exposed to arsenic-based wood preservatives
Bibliographic information July-Aug. 1983, Vol.38, No.4, p.209-214. 18 ref.
Abstract Spot urine samples were collected from 89 wood treaters and 232 control subjects. Wood treaters averaged 103µg/l arsenic compared with 74µg/l in controls; respective figures for chromium were 41 and 63µg/l and for copper 191 and 221µg/l. Mean urinary arsenic levels of the wood treaters were within published normal limits. Urinary arsenic values can provide a useful index of occupational exposure to chromated copper arsenate wood preservatives when statistical adjustments are made for the effects of dietary arsenic.
