Title Health hazards by pesticides on farmers in citrus fruit area. Fluctuations in blood enzymes and lipids by spraying work of mecarbam
Bibliographic information 1982, Vol.30, No.6, p.1028-1033. Illus. 27 ref.
Abstract Serum pseudocholinesterase, erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase, serum β-glucuronidase, alkaline phosphatase, total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol levels were determined in 37 male and 39 female workers in a citrus fruit orchard before and after spraying 25% mecarbam using a conventional nozzle. Serum pseudocholinesterase activity was slightly reduced in the female group after spraying > 2l mecarbam. Other enzymes and lipids did not show significant fluctuation after spraying. Spraying mecarbam for ≤4 hours with protective clothing is recommended as safe.
