Title Chickenpox outbreak in staff and students of a hospital in the tropics
Bibliographic information 17 July 1982, Vol.2, No.8290, p.165.
Abstract 12 members of the staff of a hospital in India acquired varicella from a young patient. None had had varicella earlier. In tropical hospitals with many non-immune staff it may be difficult to prevent hospital-acquired infection. Immigrant staff from the tropics working at hospitals in temperate countries are also at risk. Their immunity should be assessed so that measures can be taken to forestall varicella outbreaks in hospital personnel.
