Title Causes of death of active railway workers - Can these deaths be prevented?

Abstract The medical causes of death of railway workers aged less than 55 years are analysed with a view to their prevention. Aspects studied are: cancer, cardiovascular diseases, suicide, accidents. The two main causes of death were cancer and cardiovascular conditions. Priorities for effective medical prevention suggested are early detection of hypertension and obesity, and of alcohol and tobacco abuse.
