Abstract Results of chromosome studies on the peripheral blood lymphocytes of 13 radiologists, 34 medical radiology technicians (22 males and 12 females) and 20 industrial radiology technicians with long-term exposure to radiation doses within the permissible levels. The prevalence of unstable chromosome aberrations was higher in the exposed group than amongst controls. No difference was found in the case of stable chromosome aberrations. The mean percentage of cells with unstable chromosome aberrations and the calculated number of chromosome breakages in cells was not significantly different in the 2 groups.
