Abstract An interactive computer programme for the Apple II Microcomputer, which eliminates the manual calculations and provides the additional power and flexibility of computer processing, for use in the design of ventilation systems is described. Designs can be reworked and stored for later recall, review and possible redesign. The computer programme prompts the user through the design process in a logical step by step manner. Most design data is contained in the programme, and the user needs only a schematic drawing of the layout and a selection of hoods including exhaust volume, duct velocity, and entry losses.
