Title Occupational hypersensitivity pneumonitis after exposure to diphenylmethane diisocyanate
Bibliographic information Jan. 1982, Vol.125, No.1, p.113-116. Illus. 29 ref.
Abstract A foundry worker developed dyspnoea and a restrictive breathing defect after exposure to diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI). His symptoms and lung function impairment subsided after he left foundry work. Specific inhalation challenges with MDI induced general malaise, a significant increase in body temperature and leukocyte count, and a decrease in forced vital capacity and transfer factor. Total antibody activity to a MDI human serum albumin conjugate was detected by ammonium sulfate precipitation and specific IgG antibodies were demonstrated by the enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent technique.
