| Abstract |
Report of a study on the hazards of metal-cutting machine tools (drilling, boring, milling, planing and sawing machines), and recommendations for effective guarding, based on the analysis of data from accident statistics and accident reports to insurance companies during 1976, and on the theoretical analysis of risks encountered in the field during the study. The recommendations cover both engineering approaches to the design and construction of safe and effective guards and ergonomic approaches to safe working procedures. Labour standards on the safety of metal-cutting machine tools in Finland and other countries are reviewed. |
