Title The carcinogen NDELA in metal-cutting fluids and in antifreeze mixtures
Original title Kankerverwekkende stof NDELA in metaalbewerkingsvloeistoffen en antivries [in Dutch]
Bibliographic information Apr. 1982, Vol.58, No.4, p.35-36. Illus. 4 ref.
Abstract N-Nitrosodiethanolamine (NDELA), a carcinogen in animals, may originate from di- or triethanolamine and from nitrite, ingredients in many synthetic cutting fluids and certain antifreeze mixtures. Some cutting fluids contained 0.1-0.4% NDELA. The carcinogen may be inhaled with oil mist or be absorbed through the skin by machine tool operators.
