Title Frequency of sister chromatid exchanges in V79 cells of Chinese hamsters exposed to heavy metals
Original title Učestalost izmjena kromatida sestara u V79 stanica kineskog hrčka nakon izloženosti teškim metalima [in Serbocroatian]
Bibliographic information 1981, Vol.32, No.2, p.147-156. Illus. 26 ref.
Abstract The sister chromatid exchange (SCE) method was used to investigate the mutagenic effect of heavy metals (Pb++, MN++, Ni++, Cd++). In vitro experiments with Chinese hamster V79 cells showed that Pb and Ni did not cause any significant change in SCE values, whereas exposure to Mn and Cd increased the number of changes; in particular, Cd had a marked mutagenic effect, doubling the number of exchanges after 2-h cell incubation.
